Hypertectum Aqua Primer
Two-component water-based epoxy primer and vapour barrier.
Introduction
Hypertectum Aqua Primer is a two-component, water-based epoxy coating, used as a primer for Hypertectum polyurethane membranes. It acts as a water and water-vapour barrier, which makes it ideal for applications with rising damp or negative water pressure. Easy to use and safe (zero VOC), with many applications besides priming.
Technical properties
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Viscosity (Brookfield) | 100-360 cP |
| Density | 1.01 g/cm³ |
| Mixing ratio A:B (weight) | 1:3 |
| Water-vapour transmission | 3.9 g/m²-24 h (Class II) |
| Water permeability | 0.003-0.006 kg/m²-h^0.5 (Class III low) |
| Adhesion to concrete | >38 kg/cm² (>3 N/mm²) |
| Abrasion resistance | 120 x 10^-3 g (Taber 563, CS17, 1.6 kg, 1,000 revs) |
Preparation
Mix the two components thoroughly, then add 10-30 % water. Stir by hand or with a low-speed mixer.
Application
As a primer: apply in thin coats only, by roller, in one or two coats. Total consumption 150 g/m².
As a water/vapour barrier: apply by roller in three coats. Total consumption 600 g/m².
Recoat time depends on weather conditions: less than 5 hours in summer and up to 24 hours in winter. Apply the next coat once the primer has turned transparent and can no longer be marked with a fingernail.
Limits
Do not exceed the stated consumption; this would reduce the adhesion and durability of the membrane.
Pot life of the mix: 1 hour maximum at 25 °C.
Do not apply below 12 °C.
Wet hot concrete surfaces before application.
Cleaning
Wipe tools with dry paper or cloth, then clean with water. Never re-use these tools for mixing or applying polyurethane products.
Storage
At least 24 months in the original unopened containers, in a dry place at 5-25 °C. Once opened, use immediately.
